Government telecom company BSNL has recorded a net profit of Rs 262 crore in the December quarter. This is the first time in the last 17 years, when the company has earned a profit in a quarter. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has described it as an important turning point for the company. 14-18 percent increase
The country’s only government telecom company has seen 14-18 percent revenue growth compared to the same period of previous year in the profit of mobility, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and leased line service. Apart from this, the number of users is also increasing. In June last year, the company had a total of 8.4 crore users, which increased to 9 crore in December. Apart from this, the company has also cut its expenses. Compared to last year, the company has reduced its cost 1,800 crores this year. For all these reasons, this is the first time since 2007, when the company has made profit on the basis of quarter.
The company is increasing the scope of 4G and second service
The company is now providing services like National WiFi roaming, free Bitv for mobile users, FTTH users’ first 5G connectivity for FTTV and mining for mining. Apart from this, the company plans to do 4G service rollouts across the country this year. For this, 75,000 towers have been installed out of 1 lakh towers. Scindia said that there is a plan to operate all the tower by June this year. Let us know that recently, the government has approved a budget of Rs 6,000 crore for the company to rollout 4G service. This is expected to speed up work.
